Position: Journeyman / Apprentice Insulator - E3 Outage - Days - 4 Weeks Project Type: E3 Furnace Outage Project Location: Nova Chemicals Joffre Shift: Days / Nights Schedule: 4/3 going into 6/1 Accommodations: LOA Travel Details: Not Available GC: Graham Allied Partner: Quinn Construction Ltd. Reporting to site supervision, the role of Journeyman/Apprentice Insulator will be expected to start in August and last approximately 4 weeks working 10 hours per day on a 6/1 shift. This position will perform Outage work at our client’s facility located at Joffre.
Position Requirements

  • Must be a qualified Journeymanor Apprentice Insulator with a minimum of 2 years construction and / or plant experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Alberta Drivers’ License and meet requirements of Quinn Approved Driver Program
  • Able to meet conditions outlined on the Physical Demands Analysis
  • Achieve 100% completion of mandatory Quinn and client training
  • Pre-access Drug & Alcohol test
  • Training Required: CSTS 2020, Confined Space Entry, Fall Arrest (CSE and Fall Pro Must be ESC Approved – In Class Training)
Position Description
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on quality
  • Must have abilities to develop into a Lead Hand or Supervisor - in the future, if required
  • Able to read and understand blue prints / P&ID’s / piping specifications and QA / QC requirements (Travel Sheets)
  • Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine type of pipe and tools to use, and lay out the sequence of tasks
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install piping, valves and fittings
  • Join pipe sections, related equipment and secure in position
  • Use testing equipment to check systems for leaks
  • Contribute to pre-job Tool Box meetings, ensure PTA cards are included as part of each job/task
  • Comply with Quinn and client safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate high degree of safety awareness and a commitment to safety (his / hers and others)
  • Must maintain good relations with client and fellow employees through effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Willing to receive training in basic computer skills
  • Must be willing to work at assigned locations as the workload dictates
  • Must be receptive to working with short notice for call outs, nights and overtime upon client request
