Journeyman and Apprentice Structural Ironworkers
Firma Contracting is currently seeking Journeyman and Apprentice Structural Ironworkers to work on commercial projects located in Saskatoon. We offer competitive wages, work / life balance, benefits, RRSP matching, great opportunity for advancement, and training.
Responsibilities:

• Safely raising, placing and uniting steel girders, columns and other structural members to form completed structural frameworks.
• Erect and assemble prefabricated metal buildings.
• Read and understand complex instructions
  
• Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, and hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials
• Dismantle structures and equipment when required
• Erect and install scaffolding, hoisting equipment, and rigging
• Erect and install steel structures, construction cranes, and other hoisting equipment
• Align and weld or bolt steel units in place and force structural steel members into final positions using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks and hand tools
• Comply with established safety standards at all times
• Conduct regular worksite inspections to monitor workmanship and safety compliance
• Managing and performing general house keeping and daily clean-up of work area
• Provide guidance, direction and supervision to apprentices
• Read blueprints and specifications to lay out the work
• Other duties as required

• High degree of attention required to prevent injury to self and others
• Perform heavy maintenance work involving climbing, rigging, and exposure to high pressure hydraulic and pneumatic systems in accordance with all company safety procedures
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Demonstrate practical problem solving ability
