Cabin Radio is hiring a reporter based in our Yellowknife newsroom to take on a wide range of fast-turnaround news reporting and serve as an assistant editor as required. This position requires confidence handling the written word \xe2\x80\x93 both your own ability to quickly write clear, concise and engaging copy, and your ability to scrutinize and polish the work of others. As a reporter, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be covering an extremely wide range of topics, from developing breaking news stories to significant and long-running environmental, economic and political issues. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be given room to work on longer-form reporting, too. In the assistant editor role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll have some weekday and occasional weekend responsibility for newsroom output. You\xe2\x80\x99ll help to guide a small newsroom that has built a reputation for robust, high-quality and engaging journalism. Cabin Radio was shortlisted for the Canadian Association of Journalists\xe2\x80\x99 national Daily Excellence award in 2023. You\xe2\x80\x99ll need to quickly develop confidence assigning and editing stories, and be able to ensure output matches our house style while helping our reporters to develop.
