This role provides an exceptional and unique opportunity to work with Inuktitut and English-speaking journalists. If you enjoy the daily challenge of a multi-platform news operation with a dynamic newsroom, the chance to help develop strong new journalists, and merging traditional journalistic practice with Inuit culture and knowledge, this is a great place to be! KEY TASKS:
Provides strategically driven editorial leadership daily and on all station projects.
Networks to build relationships with community leaders and groups.
Ensures that all our policies and procedures are followed.
Manage and oversee the work of the North editorial team based in Yellowknife.
Hire and support the development and training of staff with their journalism, content development, and leadership paths.
Implement strategies that will broaden and grow new audiences on TV, Radio, Digital, and social media by making sure our coverage is relevant to Canadian audiences across the Northwest Territories and Yukon.
Operationalize and execute our strategic priorities around diversity and inclusion, the reflection of contemporary Canada, and trusted journalism.
Work with the Senior Managing Director and finance personnel to ensure that the editorial teams have the budget and resources to tell the stories that are relevant to our Northern audience.
In concert with the senior leadership team, you are responsible for all editorial priorities, facilities, human resources, including overall management and engagement of staff, career development, hiring, training, communication, and performance management.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Inspirational leader who leads their team to create engaging visual relevant content for a Northern audience.
Comprehensive understanding of the three territories in the North and the unique regions and their communities and the people who live there.
Experience reporting in northern remote communities and speaking an Indigenous language would be an asset.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships with all levels of the Corporation regardless of location.
The ability to delegate tasks to team members in a way that empowers them to accomplish the tasks required.
Clearly define/communicate expectations and provide frequent feedback.
Inclusive leadership mindset to increase the content and staff; deep cultural awareness, and a champion of diversity.
A strong understanding of media trends and their implications for our North\'s future.
Deep understanding of journalism and creating programs that achieve engagement with our audiences.
Demonstrated journalistic rigor and programming expertise as well as knowledge of the law as it related to broadcasting.
Strong understanding of budgets, human resource policies and collective agreements is important.
Have an understanding / working knowledge for various forms of technology from computers to satellite technology linking all of our northern locations.
Creative ethos to develop and evaluate programs and ideas for programming with the ability to lead these projects.
Strategic, outside the box and solution minded resolving circumstances as they are presented.
The ability to make decisions rapidly and frequently under pressure.
Preferred: 5 years related industry experience with a relevant degree or an equivalent amount of education and experience
