MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10. The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy. As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people.

MLTC Health & Social Development Department is seeking a dynamic, motivated individual to fill one (1) full-time, term position of Jordan's Principle Administrative Assistant. This term may be extended based on funding and program needs. MLTC Jordan's Principle Administrative Assistant will work with families and children/youth with emphasizes on aged 0 - 18 years who require support/ special services with advocacy and inclusion in their communities that meets Jordan's Principle criteria.

Duties (include but not limited to):



Responsible for opening the MLTC Jordan's Principle Office and prepare the workplace for daily operation. Performs reception and administrative duties for MLTC Jordan's Principle Office. Ability to work with and relate to children/youth that are in need of supports. Address client inquiries regarding new or current Jordan's Principle applications & supports - Access client files Assist with the processing, submission and cash management of Jordan's Principle approvals Responsible for all central filing within the Jordan's Principle programs Responsible for picking up office equipment and supplies required by all Jordan's Principle staff Other delegated duties as defined/delegated by the Jordan's Principle Supervisor.

Qualifications:



Minimum:

Grade 12 Appropriate combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.

Preferred:

Diploma in Office Admin from a recognized institute with minimum 2 years related experience

Other:

Demonstrates excellent public relation skills while interacting with all MLTC/MLFN guests, elected officials, employees, etc. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in computer software applications (i.e., Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint Outlook, etc.). Ability to work with and relate to children/youth that are in need of supports. Understanding of and respect for the cultural backgrounds of the families served and the ability to develop trusting relationships with all types of families. Encourage families to connect with qualified service providers (physical and mental health, education, spiritual, cultural). Knowledge and understanding of MLTC and First Nation history, cultures, and values. Excellent organizational interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to understand/speak Cree and/or Dene is considered a valuable asset. Willingness to travel and possession of class 5 driver's license.
