SUMMARY
About the Role \xe2\x80\x93 Joni Sous Chef
The Restaurant Sous chef is responsible for aiding the Executive Sous Chef in the operations of all aspects of the restaurant kitchen, including daily production of food, quality of food, ordering, scheduling of employees, employee relations, menu writing, specials and maintaining sanitation & safety standards. The ideal Sous Chef will accomplish their tasks by monitoring the daily functions of the culinary department, including providing support and guidance to the culinary team, ending in a positive guest experience.
Some of the responsibilities include:
\xc2\xb7 Support senior leadership by developing and assuming basic management responsibilities
\xc2\xb7 Assume the role of liaison between all departments within the culinary division and all other hotel departments
\xc2\xb7 Supervise the preparation and cooking of various food items
\xc2\xb7 Develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to Hyatt brand standards
\xc2\xb7 Plan, coordinate & implement special events and holiday functions
\xc2\xb7 Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating and hiring
\xc2\xb7 May manage other key culinary leadership roles, including supervisor and other less senior Sous Chefs
\xc2\xb7 Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results
\xc2\xb7 Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis
\xc2\xb7 Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment
Qualifications:
\xc2\xb7 Minimum of 3 years of hotel/restaurant management experience required
\xc2\xb7 In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations
\xc2\xb7 Possess strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skills
\xc2\xb7 Experience with training, basic financial management and customer service
\xc2\xb7 Proficient in general computer knowledge
\xc2\xb7 A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced customer service environment
\xc2\xb7 Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner
\xc2\xb7 Strong training and communication skills
\xc2\xb7 Culinary education and/or on-the-job training, hotel experience preferred
\xc2\xb7 Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including AM & PM shifts, weekends & holidays
