Your Opportunity

Reporting to the United States Finance Director, the Joint Arrangements Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the team that accounts for all North America joint arrangements (including joint ventures and joint operations) during their full life cycle in the Deltek accounting system. The Joint Arrangements Accounting Manager will lead the team responsible for initiating, managing, performing, tracking and completing major projects while managing the accounting cycle (general ledger to close, accounts receivable/payable) in accordance with contractual requirements and Stantec policies and practices.

Your Key Responsibilities

Review and provide guidance to Operational partners while negotiating teaming agreements;

Manage the setup of joint arrangements based on contractual documents in compliance with internal financial reporting accounting standards IFRS and internal policies;

Actively participate in bank account setups while acting as a liaison between Treasury and Operations;

Be a resource person for our joint arrangements throughout their life cycle with project managers, directors, project accounting and Business Operation Unit (BOU)/Business Line (BL) finance directors and managers;

Produce, validate and analyze periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) financial statements;

Participate in the management and monitoring of the various accounting processes of the joint arrangements including accounts payable, receivables, work in progress, accruals, journal entries and month end financial close;

Reconcile and analyze key general ledger and bank accounts and maintain GST/PST/HST compliance;

Ensure compliance with all relevant internal controls, and in particular internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and engage as an active participate in their improvement;

Analyze financial variances and performance indicators and make recommendations;

Participate in the process of calling/distributing working capital and distributing profit share and dividends;

Establish solid and trusting business relationships with employees of the other joint arrangement firms;

Responsible for attracting, recruiting, developing, engaging and retaining talent resulting in increased engagement and decreased voluntary turnover;

Responsible for maintaining the appropriate staffing level based on current and future workloads and staffing mix based on current and future talent needs;

Consult with National and BOU Finance Directors and make strategic decisions regarding hiring, employment actions, market and annual performance salary adjustments;

Develop KPI\'s to appropriately track metrics to ensure that the joint arrangements team is held accountable for meeting deliverable and deadline commitments;

Perform other key tasks unrelated to joint arrangements such as managing the update of annual standard billing rates, working with finance leaders and business leaders;

Implement process improvements to reduce overall costs and improve efficiencies and service levels.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Experience with Deltek accounting software is preferred;

Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to handle challenging situations and interactions;

Have strong communication skills, be able to establish solid and lasting professional relationships, have a good team spirit and demonstrate mutual aid and communication;

Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

Demonstrated training, coaching and mentoring experience;

Demonstrate autonomy, rigor, professionalism, good judgement, versatility and attention to detail;

Have a great sense of organization and be able to manage priorities well while meeting tight deadlines;

Experience with accounting management in the A&E industry;

Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office software including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Word.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor\'s degree in finance, Accounting or related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination. 5 years supervisor experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Infrequent field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
