Job Developer / Employment Specialist

Job Description

Do you like making connections with employers and the community?Would you enjoy helping our participants find work and provide employment assistance?Our Job Developer role has a great blend of networking and marketing of our employment programs and participants to the community and local employers.This position attends local community events, job fairs, and showcases our services to other community partners.Position Summary:
The primary role is to promote our employment programs and source participants. The Job Developer also develops employment opportunities and work experience opportunities for employment program participants. Must be strong at building community partner relationships and attend industry and public events.Reporting Structure:
Reports to Employment Services ManagerPrime Functions:

  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy for participant recruitment
  • Facilitate employment information sessions and group presentations as required
  • Build relationships within Community Partners, Places of Religion, Colleges, and Educational institutes.
  • Comfortable with Social Media marketing.
  • Attend relevant community events and provide program information to attendees
  • Develop and update marketing materials in partnership with the Employment Services Manager
  • Compile current labour market information and employment trends
  • Maintain job boards on employment opportunities and resources in the Central Okanagan
  • Direct marketing of Participants to employers to promote employment opportunities through paid employment or work experience placement
  • Provide ongoing support to Participants to ensure that the work experience or paid employment is successful
Skill Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field- Preference for an Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in direct job development or marketing experience an asset.
  • Solid knowledge of the local labour market, community resources, and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Good presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills; experience with design platforms and social media engagement.
  • Valid British Columbia Driver's license and own transportation required.
