Jazz Ensemble Rhythm Section Coach
Primary Purpose: The purpose of this position is to assist with the instruction of the jazz ensemble rhythm section during scheduled jazz ensemble rehearsals.
Nature of Work: This position supports the pedagogical instruction of jazz ensemble members, focusing on the development of rhythmic techniques for keyboard, plucked string, and percussion instruments.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities: The successful candidate will run sectional workshops with the rhythm section of the jazz ensemble as well as supporting instructional activities during full ensemble rehearsals.
Education: Bachelor of Music Degree or post-secondary music diploma, ideally with a focus in Jazz.
Experience: Prior experience working with university music ensembles in an instructional capacity is an asset.
Skills: Extensive experience in Jazz music with a focus of rhythm instruments.
