Priority given to candidates able to support across the country (15-50% travel a year)
What You'll Do
You'll provide daily communication/interpretation support to engineers at a leading automotive manufacturing facility during visits from Japanese engineers for equipment installation. You'll assist with the translation of technical documentation (written and verbal correspondence) to facilitate achieving project goals. You'll be the conduit connecting the US engineering teams to their Japanese counterparts. This project will provide you with professional opportunities to fine tune these areas:
Learn automotive-specific terms in
Japanese
/English
On-site work will consist of supporting engineers on the manufacturing floor
Translate emails, memos, manuals, trainings, budgets, presentations, specification packages, and other automotive manufacturing related documents from/to Japanese/English
Work overtime hours, as needed
Interpretation (Japanese/English) for meetings (often after "business hours" due to international time zones) may be requested

We are a rapidly growing engineering consulting and automation firm based in Lexington, Kentucky and Toyota-City, Japan with a new office in Greensboro, NC. Our team supports multiple steps in the production preparation process, including mechanical/electrical design, import, and we bridge the gap in Japanese/English business.
Qualifications
This position pays $25-35 DOE. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is desirable. We utilize Microsoft Office products daily so a working command of these products will serve you well.
This position requires strong language skills (
JLPT N2
for non-native Japanese speakers) and a knowledge of Japanese and North American business culture. Experience within the automotive manufacturing sector is valuable for this position and technical vocabulary and experience is helpful but can be learned. Safety training will be provided, and safety will remain the focal point of our daily activities.
