Who you are:




Must

be enrolled in an

Engineering

co-op (or internship) program at a recognized Canadian university. Have Excellent computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly and concisely, using appropriate technical vocabulary. Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license.

Prepare and review process documentation, work instructions, and issue briefs Use SQL and Python to query, process, report, and work with asset management data Support User Acceptance Testing for new and existing applications Support manual and automatic data entry into enterprise applications

Asset Strategy & Analytics Description:




Review reported system deficiencies and assist in work approval Use SQL to query, process, report, and work with asset management data Apply analytic skills to identify and initiate asset repair or replacement programs Apply leadership / project management skills to engage stakeholders and lead on solution development process Assist in planning yearly transmission and distribution system capital maintenance program

Asset Modernization Description:

Distribution Design Engineering

Description:




Prepare designs using AutoCAD for projects compatible with pre-engineered standards, and regulations, and meeting customer requirements. Calculate structure loading & determine pole class and guy length requirements based on tangential and sheer loading & balancing of static forces. Clearance calculations of overhead facilities Size electrical equipment, wire, cable, and appropriate over-current protective devices Develop project cost and resource estimates. Prepare detailed material lists & ordering material. 95% office based, 5% field based. Hybrid Schedule.

Telecom Engineering





Discipline: Electrical, Computer, Communication Engineering | | Location: Edmonton


Description:




Supports the design for projects to modernize and expand the utility-owned Telecom system through various project types and provides operational support as needed. Provides drafting, construction packages, and mapping support. Marks up preliminary and as-built drawing packages as required, and coordinates drawing packages with other Engineering staff. Participates in pre-commissioning of new assets including testing and configuration of devices and collection of asset data for entry into Maximo. Use telecom network design software tool for planning telecom networks. Conducts data analysis in support of network planning activities.

Description:




Ensuring project deliverables (Final engineer reviewed Microsoft Word document or Final engineer reviewed AutoCAD design) are completed. Collaborate with Engineering, Lands, Scheduling, and Warehouse departments to adapt (change document/design currently working on) due to changing priorities. Regularly communicate with customers to understand their service requirements, discuss timelines, and obtain project-related information to use in the document/design. Supporting the team through various duties including data entry and analysis, documentation, and application of company initiatives. 100% Office-based with field opportunities i.e site visits or observations.

Automation and SCADA

Description:




Assist with the design and specifications of substation automation systems including processor-based hardware and software control systems (Relay, RTU - Remote Terminal Unit, HMI - Human Machine Interface). Participation in substation design reviews. Creating and reviewing procedures for Automation and SCADA material. Independently works on small projects and applying standards and processes while recommending any deviation from standards to the supervisor.

Substation Engineering - Protection and Control

Description:




Assist with the preparation of transmission substation Protection & Control detailed design and settings work packages, including drafting, quality checks, and coordination to ensure package alignment and constructability. Support P&C project completion activities including package as-build QA and drafting Support Alberta Reliability Standard compliance activities and asset onboarding using the asset management database application Support arc flash and protection coordination studies by running simulations and assessing the impacts of fault scenarios.

E-mobility & Microgrids and Safety Code





Discipline: Electrical Engineering



Location: Edmonton



The student will report to both teams:E-mobility & Microgrids and Safety Codes.


Description:




Prepare designs and drawings with MicroStation for projects compatible with pre-engineered standards, regulations, and customer requirements. Provide engineering and project management support of renewables, battery systems and microgrids including design, procurement, implementation, and life cycle support. Assist in planning, design, site visit, vendor outreach of electric vehicle related projects, such as , ATCO internal charging. Markup preliminary and as-built drawing packages as required. Coordinate drawing packages with Electrical & Instrumentation, and other Engineering teams. Develop, update and maintain PowerBI and Power Automate for safety inspections and record keeping. Update weekly project list for budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
