We are looking for an Engineering Student to join our Energy Solutions Division for a 12- or 16-month term. The position starts in January 2024 in Calgary.

Relocation assistance may be provided to the successful candidate.

Co-op Student Requirements (General):

• Enrollment in a co-op (or internship) program in a recognized Canadian university
• Excellent computer skills and experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate technical vocabulary
• A valid Class 5 driver\'s license and personal vehicle may be required for some positions.

Renewable Projects, Energy Solutions

Discipline: Electrical Engineering

Location: Edmonton

Description:

This department is responsible for the development through operations of renewable generation projects in Alberta and extending into North America. Students will support the development, construction/execution, and operations teams at ATCO Renewables, with a specific focus on solar, wind, hydro and BESS energy projects.

Activities:

• Report to the Senior Electrical Projects Engineer.
• Design review of wind, solar, and energy storage facilities (with a focus on civil and electrical design)
• Simulation of solar facilities
• Construction support - Responding to field questions (RFI)
• Regulatory support for new facilities
• Operations and Maintenance procedure development for new facilities
• Discussion with equipment vendors and professional facility design engineers
• Providing assistance to the Business Development and Operations groups
• Investigating emerging technology and innovative project ideas

Other Qualifications:

• Basic coding in Python
• Basic data analysis
• Familiarity with electrical Single-Line Diagrams
• Understanding of wind, solar, and hydro generation principles and technology
• Understanding of power engineering principles and technology (transformers, inverters, transmission lines, etc.)
• Flexibility, initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to work as an effective team member
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to prioritize conflicting demands, and the ability to present critical information to field operations and company management in a simple and concise manner.
• A strong commitment to Health & Safety and a culture of caring.

Travel to field locations will be required; driver\'s license considered an asset.
