How will you contribute?

Working with the Debates and Publications team, you will be conducting the first-stage editing (sub-editing) of the transcripts of the Debates of the Senate and its committee proceedings using our in-house, XML-based application known as \xe2\x80\x9cIris\xe2\x80\x9d.

You will be an integral part of the high-volume production team ensuring that the spelling, punctuation, grammar, and syntax of the transcripts (written text) accurately reflects the digital sound of the proceedings.

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate (part-time) position in the Communications, Broadcasting and Publications Directorate.

Prerequisites

  • A post-secondary education in Communications or a related field, such as language studies, literature, translation or a combination of education, training, and related experience;
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working as a proofreader, copy-editor translator or scopist;
  • An advanced ability to copy-edit, correct and refine English grammar, syntax, spelling and punctuation;
  • Ability to effectively research best practices and communicate recommendations to colleagues and supervisors;
  • Ability to retain information and details or to create tools and methods to synthesize and retain large amounts of information;
  • Ability to establish and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with different stakeholders;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to compile, analyze, prepare, organize and maintain information in an efficient manner;
  • Superior knowledge of digital editing software, digital technologies and in Microsoft Office software
