How will you contribute?

The incumbent advocates sound financial management policies, principles and practices specifically in the area of salary management. The incumbent interprets and provides advice on Senate and central agency policies; conceives and prepares financial information; performs account verification processes and monitors and initiates corrective action with respect to data quality.

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate (Permanent, Full-Time) position in the Finance and Procurement Directorate.

Candidates employed by a parliamentary institution and the Federal Public Service interested in a two (2) to three (3) year interchange opportunity are welcome to apply.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites

  • Degree from a recognized university with a specialization in accounting, finance or business administration;
  • Experience in the verification and/or approval of accounting transactions;
  • Experience in clarifying financial management practices and principles in non-technical terms;
  • Experience in the provision of advice related to salary management;
  • Experience in data analysis using advanced Excel functions;
  • Experience using an Integrated Finance System such as UNIT4, SAP, FreeBalance and the Receiver General of Canada\'s Payment System is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of the relevant sections of the Financial Administration Act, Senate, Receiver General and Treasury Board policies, and;
  • Possession of a recognized professional accounting designation of the Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) is an asset.
