How will you contribute?

The Coordinator, Learning Programs is accountable for providing operational leadership, central planning, coordination and organization of learning activities for the Senate. The position is accountable for providing a strategic perspective to the identification and assessment of learning needs through consultations with Senate Administration executives and managers, for proposing learning priorities, and for developing an annual learning plan that meets the requirements for employees and managers, corporate and other learning needs. There is a responsibility for researching learning programs and service providers and for negotiating services that meet the Senate\'s requirements. Responsibilities require acting in an autonomous manner in assessing policies, processes, systems and practices supporting the delivery and administration of the learning program, proposing new or evolving mechanisms to enhance service delivery, and ensuring the effective administration of client training needs. There is a need to monitor and provide operational oversight on the evolution of the Senate\'s learning strategy and plans, to conduct regular evaluations on the progress of learning plans, to assess the implications of changing learning plans and priorities, as well as to administer the Senate\'s corporate learning budget.

Prerequisites

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Adult Education or a related discipline OR have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
  • Experience providing a coordination and strategic advisory function to support managers with corporate learning framework and strategies;
  • Experience assessing learning needs through consultations with important stakeholders, and proposing aligned training offerings;
  • Experience developing, recommending and administering policies, plans, processes and procedures that support strategic learning framework;
  • Ability to research and evaluate external learning programs and establish contracts with service providers;
  • Ability to maintain a database on various aspects of manager and employee training profiles as well as corporate training statistics;
  • Knowledge of best practices associated with budget administration and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge and skill in the application of consultative processes to engage management in discussions pertaining to learning needs and priorities, as well as in the overall analysis of learning requirements.
