How will you contribute?
The Manager of Financial Services is accountable for developing, monitoring and implementing guidelines, standards, processes and procedures to guide the accounting of the Senate\'s financial resources; for monitoring compliance with established financial policies; for developing, implementing and maintaining corporate accounting records, internal controls, and validating the integrity of financial information; and for providing expert services, advice, guidelines, direction and training in these areas throughout the Senate. The incumbent is accountable for providing a wide range of financial services and advice to the Senate Administration and to Senators and their staff.

Prerequisites
. Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in accounting or finance or business administration;
. Experience in preparing briefing material to senior management on a broad range of questions related to financial matters;
. Experience in providing strategic and operational advice and expertise in matters of financial management to managers;
. Experience in the interpretation, providing advice and bringing into force financial policies;
. Experience in managing a corporate financial accounting unit (accounts payable, accounts receivable);
. Experience in business process reengineering;
. Experience in managing a team of financial professionals;
. In-depth knowledge and understanding of accounting concepts, practices, and knowledge of the financial planning and budgeting cycle for government or Parliament;
. In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and familiarity with relevant sections of the Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) or Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) Handbook;
. Sound knowledge and understanding of the Government-wide chart of accounts;
. Sound knowledge of office management procedures, methods and techniques including planning, controlling, coordinating and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines and effectively relay information or instructions;
. Possession of a recognized professional accounting designation of the Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) is an asset.
