Overall Responsibility
The IT Systems Administrator ensures the smooth operation of our internal IT systems and serves as the primary point of contact with our third-party IT partner. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical expertise, proactive problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for internal IT-related issues, providing timely troubleshooting, resolution, or escalation as needed
  • Act as the primary liaison with the organization's Managed Services Provider (MSP), coordinating support tickets, project work, and vendor performance reviews
  • Travel between three sites in Leslieville and East York as needed to support staff and equipment on-site
  • Maintain clear documentation of systems, processes, and vendor relationships
  • Track and manage hardware and software assets, including inventory, licensing, warranties, and lifecycle planning
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on systems, devices, and network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime
  • Oversee and maintain data security practices, including endpoint protection, access controls, backups, incident response procedures, and compliance with relevant policies
  • Lead internal IT initiatives, such as system upgrades, software rollouts, and technology process improvements
  • Support IT procurement, including evaluating solutions, obtaining quotes, conducting cost analysis, and making budget-conscious recommendations
  • Represent IT in strategic planning and decision-making, contributing to long-term technology goals and risk management strategies
  • Prepare and present IT updates, risks, and proposals to senior leadership in a clear, non-technical manner
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, cybersecurity trends, and best practices relevant to the organization's needs
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in IT systems administration, network management, or a similar technical support role
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a technology-related field
  • Strong understanding of IT security principles, including endpoint management, identity and access management, and data protection
  • Experience with Windows environments, networking fundamentals, and general hardware support
  • Familiarity with managing Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory, with working knowledge of cloud-hosted server environments
  • Experience with VPN access, WiFi networks, network printers, and VoIP phone systems
  • Familiarity with working alongside or managing MSPs and other vendor relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute IT projects independently
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences
  • Experience presenting IT updates to senior leadership is an asset
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively in a part-time capacity
  • Comfortable with travel between sites (Leslieville and East York)
  • Able to occasionally lift equipment (up to 35 lbs), set up workstations, and manage IT infrastructure in varied physical spaces
  • Experience in a non-profit or mission-driven organization is an asset

Compensation: $33.19 - $43.96/hour
