We have an opportunity for an IT Systems Administrator Level 1 role to join our IT Team.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain, monitor, and generally understand server systems, client access and their regulatory requirements and interdependencies.
  • Participate in hardware and software setup/configuration as well as change management processes
  • Have some experience with documenting system and network designs and architecture as well as technical documentation for corporate policies
  • Support and administer issues involving Active Directory, AzureAD, Sharepoint online, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NTFS and Sharpoint Permissions and Shares
  • Deploy and administer iSCSI or Network attached Storage Area Networks
  • Contribute to Server/Network monitoring, both hardware and software
  • Continue to fine tune existing monitors as hardware and usage changes. Create new and specific monitors as well
  • Respond to critical notifications or direct them to their corresponding teams
  • Depending on the scale of the disaster/alert, provide support on a 24/7 basis and manage alerts (opsgenie) appropriately
  • Monitor Server/Network Performance including statistics of systems usage, systems outages, end user requests, etc
  • Be in a team that handles Internal support (Head office and Global employees and Digital Publishing partners in Ireland, UK, Philippines, and Australia)
  • Provide support to internal end-users either in person or with remote access software
  • Take ownership of technical issues and educate employees on good technical habits and computer behaviour
  • Install, configure, and repair new and existing enterprise client workstations, hardware, and their corresponding software as per standard operating procedures.
  • Identify existing tasks that can be completed effectively with scripting (Powershell, bash, etc.)
  • Participate in the maintenance of our automated FTP script retrieval system
  • Create, maintain, and edit all individual scripts, and ensure proper operation
  • Contribute to Server and Network monitoring, both hardware and software
  • Assess, replace, and troubleshoot hardware for end user and server levels
  • Assist in corporate documentation concerning standard operating procedures and other training materials for all things IT-related
  • Be part of a supportive and highly collaborative team of talented specialists
  • Work outside of regular business hours from time to time, if the needs arise for critical or time-sensitive situations
You are a great fit if you have:
  • At least 2 years of working experience in a Systems Administrator role or something related
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and professional writing and interpersonal interactions with internal clients, along with exceptional customer service abilities.
  • The capability of translating technical terms into easily understandable language for end-users, ensuring clear comprehension for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A collaborative, open-minded mindset and consistently maintains a respectful demeanour in the workplace.
  • Hands-on experience with security concepts such as MFA, Server Patching, Endpoint/Server Protection, and Access Management
  • Good understanding of and exposure to security basics and tools such as firewalls, anti-virus, anti-spam, and server and network hardening
  • Experience with IT service management such as configuration, change and incident management, and Incident Response Life cycle
  • Proficiency of all Windows environments and Active Directory (both on prem and Azure AD)
  • Excellent knowledge of computer component interconnections and practical experience in troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
  • The capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Experience working in a cloud/on-prem hybrid environment
  • The commitment to staying updated with new technologies that improve our data centre, while being adaptable and enthusiastic about ongoing learning.
  • Working experience of scripting tools (Powershell / bash / batch scripting)
  • A diploma or certificate associated to Computer Sciences and IT Systems
Bonus points if you:
  • Have a bachelor\'s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
  • Are familiar with other computer operating systems (Linux and Mac)
  • Can lift 15-25 lbs
  • Have a strong interest in the technology sector
This role is a full-time position based in our Richmond, BC office. Due to the nature of this job, this role will be on-site, and might require to work outside standard business hours.
