The main role of this position is to provide ongoing technical support to World Skills staff. This individual will provide reliable, client focused and timely service in the areas of network administration, IT planning, implementation, and technical staff support. The successful candidate will demonstrate personal commitment to, and understanding of the World Skills mission, vision, values and participant outcomes. Major Responsibilities: Staff Support

  • Provide technical support to staff as needed
  • Identify, troubleshoot and respond to technical challenges
  • Install, move, add, and edit users, computers, printers, and user accounts.
  • Maintain the IT equipment and software inventory
  • Perform hardware and software upgrades as required
  • Administer and maintain server and network environments to ensure effective and efficient performance
  • Maintain industry standards in terms of security and compliance
  • Work with project teams in the design, development and review of technology solutions
  • Collaborate with staff, management and consultants when developing or upgrading training, policies and procedures
  • Attend staff meetings, team meetings and other external meetings as required and share best practices in the program
  • Perform other duties from time to time, as required by the organization
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field with 1-3 years of progressive experience in technical support
  • Knowledge and understanding of IT infrastructure
  • Proficiency with hardware and software installations and support both on-site and remotely
  • Familiarity with a variety of Constituent Relationship Management systems
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the following:
  • Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows Server
  • Office 2019 and Office 365
  • Database systems including Microsoft SQL Server would be an asset
  • Security applications, VPN, Switch, and Router
  • Remote Desktop Technology
  • Antivirus and Firewall
  • Experience in basic networking
  • Experience in user account creation and maintenance of Active Directory and Exchange would be an asset
  • Familiarity with virtual environments including Hyper-V would be an asset
  • Experience with phone systems and printers
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is essential, and other languages are an asset
  • Advanced skills in communication, writing, MS Office and current technologies
  • Sound intercultural communication skills, diplomacy, maturity and integrity
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment
  • Experience in effectively running programs in a virtual environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is imperative
  • Ability to work under pressure, to communicate effectively (verbal and written), to establish priorities and deal with tight timelines
  • A strong work ethic having the needs of the organization and the clients as the primary priority
World Skills operates in a hybrid environment. This position is currently expected to work in the office a minimum of 1 day per week, plus in-person meetings or events as required. In the future, staff will be expected to work in the office 2-3 days a week.
