The opportunity:

Are you looking for a role that exposes you to different technologies in different industries? One that gives you the opportunity to have technology focused discussions with company leaders and drivers of technology and development?

Our Regions East SR&ED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development) group, a multidisciplinary team of engineers, accountants and tax specialists, is looking to add an individual with a solid software development background that has a desire to be exposed to new and exciting technologies and state-of-the art innovations in a wide range of industries. SR&ED is a tax credit incentive which encourages Canadian businesses in all industries and sectors to advance their technologies through basic/applied research or experimental development resulting in new and improved products and processes.

In this role you will assist our clients in identifying eligible SR&ED projects and describe the work in a brief technical report. We will provide you with specialized training on Canada\'s SR&ED Tax Incentive Program from both a technical and financial perspective and will often be working with more senior KPMG staff for their guidance and expertise.
What you will do

You will attend meetings with the likes of Founders, CTO\xe2\x80\x99s, Chief Architects and Software Developers to identify eligible projects and to gather all information required to prepare SR&ED filings with the CRA. These interactions will provide you with an opportunity to leverage your technical background while also exercising and developing strong interpersonal communication, critical analysis and business acumen skills.

During the discussions you will identify software development and engineering activities that qualify for the SR&ED program. Some of the topics you will be talking about are software patterns, methodologies, improvements in performance, testing, and innovation and technological advancement. Once the necessary information (including the identification of specific employees, subcontractors and other expenditures) has been obtained you will prepare the technical summaries and costing schedules for their SR&ED tax credit claims with oversight from our experienced team. You may also take part in any CRA review meetings to support the claims submitted.
What you bring to the role

Your Computer Science or IT education and work experience has given you an overall understanding of technology and the software development lifecycle. Your passion for technology is only outweighed by your passion to learn and to deliver value to your clients. You have shown that you can plan tasks effectively for multiple projects to consistently achieve delivery milestones with the required timeline and level of quality.
