We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Co-op Student to join our IT department this summer term. If you're ready to dive into a sea of opportunities and tackle hands-on experience in various IT functions, this role is for you! With a focus on technical support, system administration, and project management, the position is ideal for students in their 3rd or 4th year of university or college, or those who have recently graduated. This role will be exposed to authentication systems, laptops, desktops, networking, infrastructure, Office 365 and some information security systems.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
• Technical Support:
• + Provide technical support to employees, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• + Assist in the setup and maintenance of computer systems, networks, and peripherals.
• + Respond to IT support tickets and ensure timely resolution of issues.
• System Administration:
• + Assist in the administration of servers, networks, and cloud services.
• + Monitor system performance and security, and implement necessary updates and patches.
• + Support the management of user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Project Management:
• + Participate as a project team member supporting key IT initiatives and upgrades.
• + Assist in the planning and execution of IT projects, including hardware and software deployments.
• + Conduct research and gather information for IT project planning and implementation.
• Documentation and Training:
• + Develop and maintain IT documentation, including user guides, FAQs, and technical manuals.
• + Provide training and support to employees on IT systems and best practices.
• + Contribute to the development of IT policies and procedures.
Qualifications
• Education and Experience:
• + Enrolled in or recently graduated from an IT, computer science, or related degree program.
• + Experience working in or with IT departments is preferred.
• + Enthusiasm for learning and a passion for technology and IT support.
• + Previous internship or work experience in IT support, system administration, or related field.
• Technical Proficiency:
• + Experience with Microsoft Office, Windows, Linux, and other relevant software.
• + Familiarity with networking concepts, cloud services, and cybersecurity practices.
• + Experience with IT support tools and ticketing systems is considered a plus.
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• + Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and present information clearly.
