Job Description

On behalf of our Public Sector Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for an IT Network & Security Tools Support Consultant to join our Client's team on a Contract basis. This role is Hybrid and the Client is based in Vancouver, BC.
Summary of the Role
The IT Network & Security Tools Support Consultant supports network and security tool operations and contributes to the design and execution of patching strategies. The role focuses on monitoring environments, coordinating security patching, and ensuring reliable system performance. It also involves collaborating with technical teams to maintain compliance with regulatory and operational requirements while supporting field teams with patch-related activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Plan and schedule security patching activities across generating stations while balancing operational priorities.
Monitor and manage software security updates and maintain documentation related to patching activities.
Conduct security patch testing, validate outcomes, and record results accurately.
Support field teams with activities related to cyber-security compliance and patch execution.
Collaborate with IT teams on the design and implementation of patching strategies.
Work with compliance teams to ensure alignment with applicable regulatory standards.
Core Requirements
Minimum four years of experience in IT security supporting networked or multi-system environments.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience with Windows OS, Linux, Cisco patching, and Windows administration.
Hands-on experience with Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco IOS/ASA, SNMP, scripting (Perl, Shell), and Microsoft Active Directory.
Strong technical knowledge of firewalls, IPSEC, SNMPv3, Syslog, AAA, and TCP/IP routing.
Desired Skills & Experience
Understanding of regulatory environments related to cyber security.
Advanced proficiency in Excel.
Experience supporting complex network and systems technologies.
Familiarity with NERC CIP environments (not required).
Experience coordinating patching or similar operational processes.
Terms
This is a 3-month contract position. The work arrangement is Hybrid, requiring two days per week onsite in Vancouver, BC, with the remainder worked remotely. There are no additional pre-employment requirements such as background or reference checks.
