ABOUT THE ROLE



Southampton Solutions is hiring an experienced

IT Infrastructure Specialist

to join our growing team.

We're a hands-on Managed Service Provider (MSP) focused on helping customers get the most out of their IT systems. As our client base grows, we're

expanding our senior technical team

with professionals who bring both experience and certifications to the table.

In this role, you'll work directly with client environments to support and enhance hardware, software, servers, and networks. You'll also help design and roll out infrastructure projects that make a real impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Collaboration & Documentation



Identify areas for infrastructure optimization and improvement.

Lead and support infrastructure assessments, project scoping, and implementation.

Coordinate and implement customer infrastructure projects.

Create and maintain detailed documentation of systems and processes.

Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver high-quality solutions.

Infrastructure & Support



Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, servers, workstations, networks, storage, hardware, software, security and cloud platforms.

Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for complex technical issues.

Administer and optimize both physical and virtualization environments

Plan and implement backup and BCDR strategies

Networking & Security



Configure and maintain network infrastructure (WAP, switches, routers, firewalls)

Familiarity with TCP/IP stack protocols

Configure routing protocols, VLANs, and subnetting

Maintain network security systems such as IDS/IPS.

Setup and administer DNS filtering and email security tools.

Deploy and manage EDR tools such as SentinelOne, Huntress, Bitdefender.

Use Syslog and SNMP protocols alongside SIEM platforms to support system monitoring, alerting, and security event analysis.

Cloud & Automation



Deploy and manage cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).

Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and PowerShell.

REQUIREMENTS



Technical



5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, ideally within an MSP.

Certifications (e.g., AWS Cloud Certified, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CCNA, Linux+) would be helpful.

Skilled in Linux (Ubuntu or Red Hat), Windows Server, and virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V).

Experience with networking hardware including Meraki, Catalyst, Aruba, and Unifi.

Strong understanding of IP, WAN, LAN, VPN, VLANs, and firewall configurations.

Proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and backup and BCDR systems (Datto, Axcient, Veeam)

Experience with S3 based object storage would be beneficial.

Familiarity with Microsoft 365 services including user management, licensing, Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams.

Scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Python.

Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Work



Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Valid Canadian driver's license and ability to travel to client sites.

Provide an RCMP Criminal background check.

Ability to safely lift and move equipment such as servers, network gear, and rack-mounted hardware (up to 50 lbs).

Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

From time to time, the position may require some flexibility and travel outside of regular business hours. In addition to general flexibility, technicians will be required to be available for on-call, after-hours support on a rotating schedule. Current schedule is one week out of every 6-8 weeks (but may be updated as required).
