As a valued member of the Rural Network Services Team, you will deliver quality service in a fast-paced and high-energy environment. Alberta Health Services supports a complex multi-site, multi-vendor environment consisting primarily of Cisco network equipment. The successful candidate will have extensive expertise in several of the following Cisco technologies: wireless, routing, switching, and data centre technologies.

Description:

Plan, coordinate, and monitor team resources and activities. Provide leadership and oversight to the Network Team. Prioritize, assign, and monitor tasks, deadlines, and ensure response times are met. Leverage enterprise tools to monitor the network, maintain inventories and coordinate equipment refresh. Oversee network related incidents, problems, change and service requests. Develop and maintain schedules. Coordinate work, problem resolution, and network outages with stakeholders. Foster team compliance with policies, processes, and standards. Escalate issues when appropriate and provide regular team status reports. Design and implement solutions: Maintain active communication with clients to understand their IT needs. Respond to customer inquiries based on knowledge of AHS guidelines and policies. Communicate IT strategies and potential impact to customers on their business processes and goals. Work closely with other IT teams to design and implement provincial and local networking solutions. Troubleshooting and Technical Support: Provide subject matter expertise and leadership to cross-functional teams including external providers and vendors. Lead cross functional root cause analysis and problem resolution activities. Demonstrate in depth knowledge of networking and leverage advanced network tools. Mentor and train junior staff. Act as an escalation point and liaison for complex problems providing third level technical support. Other Responsibilities: Stay abreast of emerging networking technologies. Actively participate and contribute to Network Leadership meetings and activities. Identify and lead department initiatives to improve internal process effectiveness. Participate in setting and reaching departmental goals. Participate in the development of and promote AHS technology standards. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in IT Networking. Cisco CCNA certification. Minimum 5 years of work-related experience in a large/complex enterprise IT environment. Alberta driver\'s license with the ability to travel within Alberta. Ability to work in a 24/ 7 on-call rotation. Demonstrate expert level knowledge of Networking, specifically Cisco routing, switching and wireless.
Additional Required Qualifications:

IT Service Management/ITIL knowledge or certification. Effective communication and organizational skills. Ability to provide leadership to junior staff. The ability to work in a high-pressure environment and adapt to change. Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem investigations. Experience in Health Care.
Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Ekahau Wireless Survey tools, Infoblox IP management and Solarwinds Monitoring technologies is preferred.
