Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated IT Helpdesk & System Administrator to join our team in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for providing frontline IT support to both office and production team, while also managing and maintaining the company's IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills to ensure seamless technology operations that support business productivity and manufacturing uptime.
Key Responsibilities:
Helpdesk & User Support
Serve as the primary point of contact for IT-related issues across the production floor and office.
Provide Tier 1 support for hardware, software, printers, barcode scanners, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ERP, and plant-specific applications.
Conduct IT onboarding for new employees, including workstation setup, account provisioning, system access, and badge credentialing.
Log, track, and resolve support incidents through the IT ticketing system.
Deliver user training on IT tools and promote adherence to IT policies and best practices.
System Administration
Manage and maintain Windows servers, Active Directory, Office 365, and industrial software applications.
Administer end-user computing devices, including laptops, desktops, and panel PCs used on the plant floor.
Support and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, Wi-Fi, firewalls, and VPNs, ensuring high availability in production environments.
Assist with system upgrades, patch management, and deployment of new IT solutions across the facility.
Oversee data backup and disaster recovery processes to safeguard business continuity.
Maintain IT asset inventory, ensuring proper licensing and compliance.
Reporting Structure:
Reporting to the General Manager and IT Supervisor at the Corporate Office.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
1-5 years of IT support and system administration experience, preferably in manufacturing or automotive environments.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Windows OS, Office 365, and Active Directory administration.
Experience supporting manufacturing IT systems such as MES, ERP, industrial PCs, and barcode scanners.
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP / IP. DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
Experience with server administration, virtualization technologies (VMware / Hyper-V), and backup solutions.
Understanding of IT security best practices in industrial / manufacturing settings.
Soft Skills
Strong customer service orientation with the ability to support employees from both office and factory environments.
Effective communication and training skills to work with diverse user groups.
Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability to respond to time-sensitive production demands.
Capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Industry-recognized certification such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), or Cisco (CCNA).
Hands-on experience with MES, SAP, SQL, or other manufacturing-specific systems.
Working Environment:
Mainly office-based within a manufacturing facility
Occasional visits to the shop floor for validation and project support
Fast-paced, detail-oriented environment requiring proactive problem-solving and strong communication
