Reporting to the Director of Operations, the IT and Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's IT infrastructure and facilities management. This role involves strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT architecture, hardware systems, facility systems, and preventive maintenance protocols. The manager ensures high availability, performance, and security of the IT environment, aligning IT strategies with business goals. This key role also oversees the management and operation of all facilities and buildings to ensure efficient functionality, optimal safety, and a supportive environment for business operations. This role provides leadership to the maintenance, security, and operational efficiency of all physical buildings and infrastructure--including power, HVAC, access control, and classroom and workspace environments--to ensure a safe and functional spaces.

Key Responsibilities



IT Architecture:



Design and implement scalable and secure IT infrastructure architecture in alignment with business requirements and ensuring IT infrastructure complies with data regulations. Develop and maintain system architecture documentation, cloud strategy including networks, and server configurations. Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for system enhancements. Ensure robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place. Provide cybersecurity leadership and lead all cybersecurity audits, compliance and incident response plans Lead infrastructure projects including collaboration and digital workplace enablement, upgrades, migrations, and integrations. Provide leadership on reducing the physical infrastructure footprint through virtualization while enhancing energy efficiency and implementing sustainable, green IT practices.

Hardware Management:



Oversee procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of all IT hardware (servers, PCs, laptops, printers, networking equipment). Maintain inventory control systems and ensure optimal usage of IT assets. Monitor hardware performance and troubleshoot failures or degradations. Standardize and enforce hardware configuration and usage policies. Manage relationships with third-party service providers and contractors Ensure hardware compliance with licensing, security, and regulatory requirements.

Repairs, Enhancements & Improvements



Plan, coordinate, and oversee all building repairs, renovations, and infrastructure improvements. Manage projects involving structural upgrades, space reconfigurations, and technology-related facility enhancements. Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure quality and timely completion. Implement energy-saving and sustainability initiatives within the physical infrastructure.

Building Maintenance



Work collaboratively with ethe Maintenance Supervisor to develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all building systems. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance with safety regulations. Coordinate with service providers for routine inspections, emergency repairs, and upkeep of critical systems.

Facilities & Infrastructure Management Duties



Oversee space planning and optimize office layouts to enhance workflow, collaboration, and safety. Manage relationships with vendors and contractors for cleaning, security, landscaping, and building services. Ensure compliance with building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards. Work collaboratively to develop and monitor facilities budgets, controlling costs while maintaining service quality. Create and implement emergency preparedness plans, including evacuation and disaster recovery procedures. Supervise physical security systems such as surveillance, alarms, and access controls. Lead sustainability initiatives focused on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and green building certifications.

Qualifications and Education Requirements



Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (IT, Computer Science, Facilities Management, Engineering) 5+ years in IT and/or facilities roles At least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity Experience managing cross-functional teams Proven track record of implementing new technologies, office relocations, or facility maintenance and upgrades Proficient written and oral skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; desire to be helpful Attention to detail and self-motivated Must have a valid driver's license and access to vehicle, and ability to travel to different locations throughout Edmonton and area. Current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Record check required prior to start date ( dated within 3 months of your start date.)
