Reporting to the Manager, IT Service Desk, the incumbent promotes consistent, reliable and audience-specific communications and knowledge and is responsible for its collection, retention and dissemination. The incumbent works closely with the IT Leadership Team to ensure a strategic and inclusive approach to IT\xe2\x80\x99s outreach to the Sheridan community. The incumbent drives the promotion of IT and department-related initiatives; coordinates and executes Sheridan community communications and announcements on behalf of IT; oversight and ownership of the IT Knowledge Bases and overall Knowledge Management process; coordinates and delivers IT\xe2\x80\x99s digital content, signage and manages media and content production.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Be Doing

  • Co-ordinating IT Community Communications
  • Developing and implementing communication strategies, protocols, plans and documentation.
  • Staying current with communications and strategies of other areas in Sheridan by developing and maintaining relationships and coordinating directly with all areas of IT and other Sheridan departments, such as Marketing and Communications, Office of the Registrar, Human Resources, Faculties, etc.
  • Compiling, analyzing and interpreting communication requirements identified by all functional areas within IT and other areas of Sheridan.
  • Designing and developing communication and awareness strategies using creativity and in collaboration with other Sheridan departments.
  • Preparing knowledge for the consumption of the Sheridan Community by reviewing technical documentation produced by subject matter experts and composing it for publishing in a global Knowledge Base in a simple language that is understood by various audiences.
  • Ensuring published technical and user knowledge is up-to-date and relevant by liaising with subject matter experts.
  • Executing on the Knowledge Management strategy, ensuring that the process design is in alignment with the needs of Sheridan and its community.
  • Using community feedback, best practices, and knowledge utilization data to identify and implement continual process improvements.
  • Reporting on process activities, performance targets, and general knowledge utilization data to inform decision-making.
  • Provide awareness, training, and support for Knowledge Management practices.
  • Other duties as assigned, including participating on Sheridan committees as required.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
  • 3-year diploma/degree in English, Business, Media Communication, Public Relations, Journalism (professional writing or technical communications) or related field (Technology related field with relevant communications experience will be accepted)
  • 5-years of demonstrated experience developing and implementing communication plans, and strategies, technical writing in both print and electronic media (or a relevant combination of education and related work experience). Experience working with IT related communications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of web based development technologies (e.g. Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Javascript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP)) is and asset. Experience working with ServiceNow is desired.
  • Experience communicating with different audiences and levels of organization using tact and diplomacy. Ability to present content in a variety of ways for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills and creative outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Certification in ITIL Foundations is preferred
