Our Information Technology (IT) department is seeking a part-time IT Asset Associate for a 6-month contract, to provide input, advice, and assistance regarding best practices for IT asset lifecycles and management.

Your role

  • Provide input, advice, and assistance regarding best practices for IT asset lifecycles and management.
  • Oversee and manage IT stockroom. Ensure it is organized and all hardware is properly inventoried and accounted for. Ensure all hardware is properly signed in/out.
  • Preform regular inventory of the IT stockroom.
  • Oversee methods and procedures to insure strict inventory control.
  • Reconcile and ensure accuracy of the IT asset system.
  • Purchase IT assets for Information Technology Services (ITS) and City of Guelph employees.
  • Liaison between City of Guelph ITS department and approved hardware and software vendors.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with various functions such as finance/accounting as well as demonstrate knowledge of the entire IT asset lifecycle from requisition through destruction.
  • Purchase, monitor and track methods to adhere to budget guidelines of cost and volume.
  • Review and process monthly telecom billing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through the completion of a 2-year college diploma in an IT related field or relevant experience gained through 2 to 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working in inventory control and/or purchasing. Candidates with an equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Basic Computer skills in Windows 7, Word, Excel, and Visio.
  • Previous experience with Asset management software would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware configurations, warranty management and software licensing models would be an asset.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, with minimal supervisor and a commitment towards continuous learning, growth and the achievement of high performance on the job.
  • Must be able to multitask in a fast pated environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 25 kg.
  • Must possess a valid G class driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with a good driving record. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract prior to their start date to confirm their licence is held in good standing and that it has not been suspended or revoked under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) or Criminal Code of Canada in the last 5 years. The City of Guelph will take into consideration the number of demerit points and/or nature of the infractions to determine if it meets our requirements.
