Course Description:
Leadership captures the attention of moviemakers, historians, politicians, organizational scholars and practitioners, to name but a few. The crux of our curiosity centres on questions like - What makes an effective leader? What drives leaders? Who becomes a leader? How do we evaluate leadership? How do leaders exercise influence among others? For the past 50+ years, scholars of organizational behaviour have invested considerable thought and research energy into answering these questions in the form of models, theories and paradigms of leadership. As our world becomes increasingly more complex and dynamic, it is difficult for any one theory to truly address our questions and provide the insights we seek. Instead, today\xe2\x80\x99s leadership theorists are taking a radically different approach to understanding leadership. Case studies are a methodology to problem solve and think about \xe2\x80\x9cwhat happened\xe2\x80\x9d and \xe2\x80\x9cwhat could happen next\xe2\x80\x9d. We will read several of these throughout the course. Finally, we will write and use in-class exercises to practice our interpersonal skills and build a model of leadership uniquely suited to who we are.

Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term = $10,570.02

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement should prevail.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completed PhD in Industrial Relations, Human Resources or related discipline\xcd\xbe or a combination of advanced degrees (e.g.MIRHR/MBA/LLB in applicable area) and equivalent professional background. Expert knowledge of subject area.

Preferred Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of subject area and demonstrated ability in university teaching. Previous experience in teaching a similar course is preferred.

Description of Duties: Prepare a course syllabus in accordance with departmental guidelines. Prepare and deliver lectures (12 two-hour classes); be available for office hours and informal communications with students. Assess and evaluate students\' work and provide final course grades in accordance with university and department practices.
