Dispatched and Orientation from our Sherwood Park, AB office. Candidates can be from anywhere in Alberta, but must be able to travel to our station.
Primary Duties/ Responsibilities (but not limited to):
Provide a quick response to medical emergencies in an industrial setting
Assess and attend to patient's injuries; determine a course of treatment
Provide first-aid or support to injured workers
Effectively communicate status and next steps of the injured worker to emergency services
Clean and decontaminate vehicles (mobile treatment center) and/or clinic area and maintain areas in a state of operational/medical readiness
Ensure all reporting and communication requirements are adhered to regarding incidents, injuries and treatment
Maintain confidential patient medical documentation and reports as per governing body requirements
Personal Characteristics
Highly skilled and well known for bringing order to chaos; especially when patients are scared, in pain or shock from an injury.
Caring, but able to take control of a situation quickly with the ability to take a calm and logical approach to emergency situations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Functional knowledge of computer operations, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Have the ability to organize and prioritize situations and activities ranging from urgent patient care issues to routine office and clinic duties
Reliable, dependable, and capable of working in a fast-paced team environment
Safety Responsibilities:
Be familiar with and work in accordance with health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures
Take reasonable care to use safety and personal protective equipment as required by health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures
Report to HSE Integrated supervision and management immediately after any incident or condition believed to be hazardous to worker's health or safety.
Refuse work if danger is imminent or not controlled.
Must Have Certifications & Requirements:
Current, (unrestricted) registration as an EMR with the Alberta College of Paramedics
H2S Alive
Standard First Aid, Level C
Common Safety Orientation
Valid, unrestricted Class 5 Driver's License (Please note, a valid license does not include a Learner's Permit or Graduated License)
Current and Clean Driver's Abstract
Previous experience in the Industrial or Oil & Gas sector as a medic is considered an asset
Physically capable of working in adverse weather environment and conditions;
Pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol screen
At DXP/IPS we pay a hourly rates (not daily rates), based on Employment Standards, this includes OT rates based on the weekly 8/44 rule. Paid Travel and Orientation, with accommodations are provided!
