IPAC Manager/ Staff Educator/Clinical Lead
Reports directly to the Administrator and works closely with the DON, CM, Medical Director, Public Health Unit, Department Managers and interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe and infection free environment for the residents, facility staff and visitors. Responsible for all aspects of infection prevention & control, including effective implementation, assessments, monitoring, evaluation and follow up on established infection control programs and facility-wide practices as mandated by the legislation & best practices.
Responsibilities
Ensure Home's compliance with the regulatory requirements through establishing effective documentation/tracking of all infections, scheduling on the job IPAC training and education of all staff, hands-on supervision/observations, regular auditing and re-educating as needed, including infection prevention & control program evaluation and compliance with established standards and policies at all levels in the organization.
Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented policies and procedures, including required documentation and compliance by all facility staff with legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Review findings with Admin/ Senior Management and PAC committee meetings;
Plan educational programs based on the assessed and identified needs of all staff as they relate to infection prevention & control, in collaboration department managers and the Staff Educator for all newly hired employees: OnLine Learning program;
Work closely with PHU and collaborate with other external agencies in developing educational programs related to infection control.
Coordinate Resident and Staff Immunization Programs in collaboration with the Medical Director, PHU, and Pharmacy.
Education
Must be a Registered Nurse with current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or Training in Adult Education. Long Term Care Management Program would be an asset.
