As an Investment Analyst, Private Debt you\xe2\x80\x99ll assist in the active management of Empire Life\xe2\x80\x99s Private Debt portfolio, covering a wide range of asset classes including debt private placements, commercial mortgages, asset-backed securities, commercial loans, and private equity. What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be working on
Prepare detailed annual credit reviews and ratings scorecards
Monitor portfolio performance, including regular covenant compliance oversight
Collect, review and analyze industry, company and economic information
Participate in investor presentations and assist in evaluating new investment opportunities
Assist with the analysis and preparation of investment summaries and recommendations
Coordinate deal closings with other internal and external stakeholders (e.g., back-office,
legal, risk management)
Assist with ad hoc projects as they arise
What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for you to have
MBA or other university degree with concentration in finance, investments, economics, mathematics, statistics, quantitative methods
2 \xe2\x80\x93 3 years of experience in the analysis of fixed income investments such as public bonds, private debt, and commercial mortgages gained in commercial, corporate, or investment banking, a life insurance company, debt capital markets dealer, or an investment manager
Strong knowledge of credit principles and capital markets
Strong financial analysis skills and a good understanding of basic accounting principles
Strong written and oral communication skills
High proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Attention to detail and good time management skills
Well-developed evaluation, decision-making and problem solving skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and eager to take on responsibility
Familiarity with credit rating agency reporting and methodologies considered an asset
Completion of or enrollment in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program
Experience with Bloomberg considered an asset
