Job Description

Responsibilities



Maintain effective inventory control procedures for medical and laboratory supplies. Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking and ensure timely replenishment. Support the Director of Procurement in maintaining accurate inventory records through regular audits and reconciliations. Build and maintain strong relationships with approved vendors. Track and follow up on purchase orders, deliveries, and backorders. Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of reagents and hazardous materials in compliance with WHMIS, OHSA, and other applicable regulations. Maintain documentation for lot numbers, expiry dates, and Certificates of Analysis for quality audits. Collaborate with the Quality department to ensure materials meet required standards and are within expiry for use. Organize storage areas to optimize space, accessibility, and safety. Implement environmental controls for temperature-sensitive and hazardous materials. Enforce first-in, first-out (FIFO) rotation to minimize waste. Utilize an inventory management system to track stock movement, usage trends, and expiry dates. Generate regular inventory reports including stock status, consumption pattern and cost analysis. Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Foster collaboration between inventory, laboratory, and operation teams to support operational efficiency
Qualification

Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Laboratory Technology, or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in inventory management, with demonstrated knowledge and application of purchasing and inventory practices in a medical laboratory or healthcare environment. Knowledge of laboratory operations, medical supply chains, and regulatory requirements. Proficiency with inventory management software (e.g., Spend map or equivalent). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Excellent communication.
