About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for an Inventory Controller to be accountable for the operational management of all site-based inventories.The role has full authorization for managing inventory across the Site ensuring that inventory rationalization and optimization is achieved for the Site and DDMI as a whole. This includes recommended increases/decreases to holding levels. Disposals of items no longer required based on the \xe2\x80\x9cJustify-to-Keep\xe2\x80\x9d model and in line with their Delegated Financial Authority (DFA).Specific Site inventory rationalization projects are a major part of this role. Collaborating with project teams and executing a plan to achieve deliverables committed to by DDMI is a critical requirement and expectation of the role. Concurrent with these projects will be the strategic management of Site inventories, inclusive of working with and influencing of Site based Teams to ensure the optimal inventory outcomes are achieved.The role is the conduit for inventory related matters between the Warehouse Superintendent, Warehouse staff, Maintenance staff and Corporate Inventory team to drive the effective operational management and optimization of inventories and delivery of site-specific inventory targets as well as improvement initiatives across the wider DDMI business.Reporting to the Warehouse Superintendent and located at Lac de Gras, you will be working a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation at the Diavik mine site. You will be responsible for:
Inventory management and making decisions in relation to inventory levels and location.
Stock replenishment and problem solving relating to stock and inconsistencies.
Inventory optimization to improve service levels and minimize the warehouse workload.
Data management (1) addressing any ad hoc issues in a manner that supports inventory targets and delivers positive financial outcomes to the business, and (2) provide recommendations to stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes in inventory management related matters.
Developing and communicating rigorous and creative business strategies that drive sustainable value for Rio Tinto
Applying commercial rigor and discipline to all business decisions and customer relationships.
Leveraging the broader organization for value creation through sharing knowledge, experience, resources, and skills.
What you\'ll bringTo be considered for this role, you will have:
Degree/Advanced Diploma or Certificate in Logistics/Procurement/Warehousing/Supply Chain Management.
IBM MRO or equivalent inventory optimizer system training.
Mining or Construction experience.
Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office and ERP Systems.
Good working knowledge of any ERP Systems i.e. SAP, MAXIMO, or MS Dynamics
3 years\' experience in Materials Management, Warehouse, Inventory or Supply Chain.
A valid driver\'s license.
Strong critical and logical thinking skills towards analytics.
Understanding and knowledge in utilizing software tools and applications, such as, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, etc.
The ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholder groups identifying true value through business improvement ideas with strong negotiation skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to organize effectively and communicate.
Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets.
