Summary
The role of the Supervisor, Inventory Control is to manage all inventory related functions and procedures for controlling all Inventory movements for the assigned Distribution Centres. The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for the proper and accurate reporting of all Inventory related information to Distribution Centre Management including meeting service level goals.

Specific Responsibilities

  • To oversee alignment of supplier listings between multiple distribution centres to balance capacities and work volume for operational efficiency
  • Oversee returns of product relating to \'recalls\' and discontinued product lines as well as removal of damaged product through our reclaim process.
  • Assist in warehouse projects as they pertain to inventory control.
  • Develop and receive approval for Distribution Centre Inventory reporting formats and ensure that accurate, relevant and timely reporting of data and any other related information is reported to Senior Management.
  • Investigate and report on discrepancies including periodic audits, shortages or other matters that may have a cost impact on Distribution Centre Operation
  • Monitor and ensure that all System Parameters are correct and operating in the most efficient and cost effective manner and ensure seamless Inventory tracking within Distribution Centres.
  • Liaise with Operations, Merchandising, Procurement, Accounting, Store Operations, Traffic and IT Departments to ensure the efficient receiving and distribution of merchandise and processing of all related documentation within Metro Distribution Networks.
  • Prioritizes and schedules all inbound loads based on the needs of the stores and present or future merchandising programs. Reviews daily inventory levels relating to out of stock items or products with low inventory levels, using information to ensure that the correct inbound loads are received within the limitations of available labour on the receiving shift.
  • Reviews daily all outstanding purchase orders with requested delivery schedules to anticipate levels of receiving work and to relay this information to the Operations Manager.
  • Deals with suppliers and buyers on problems with product and/or deliveries. Monitors pallet configuration and works with vendors to ensure that patterns match whenever possible.
Qualifications
  • College Graduate or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum 5 years Inventory Control or similar warehouse experience
  • Previous supervisory experience in a unionized environment
  • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good analytical, problem resolving, organizational and planning skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
