Western Glass is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical
Inventory Associate
to join our team, playing a crucial role in maintaining accurate inventory levels, managing purchasing and supplier relationships, and supporting the overall efficiency of our daily operations.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and committed to process accuracy and continuous improvement. They should also be able to assist with our safety program, and with daily operations as needed by helping customers that visit our location or call us for service.
What You'll Be Doing
Purchasing and Supplier Coordination:
Maintain up to date price lists from suppliers.
Purchase products related to stock and projects while outsourcing inbound and outbound freight in accordance with company guidelines to achieve the lowest landed cost.
Ensure vendor quote numbers appear on purchase orders as required.
Verify order acknowledgments, track shipments, and follow up on discrepancies between purchase orders and vendor invoices.
Stage product by itemizing packages in preparation for site delivery and recording the staging location in computer system.
Suggest alternate products from inventory for projects.
Inventory Control Management:
Consult with suppliers and review quotations in consultation with branch manager and project management team to reduce product acquisition and carrying costs
Establish and maintain minimums and maximums for stock levels to meet Sales usage
Implement control procedures to limit breakage, spoilage, and theft
Achieve maximum inventory turns
Maintain accurate stock locations, product codes, quantities, and shelf numbers in the inventory system.
Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with periodic full inventory counts.
Assist with the periodic inventory counts by inputting and compiling inventory counts
Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact suppliers to resolve problems
Stage and organize product in preparation for delivery, recording staging locations in the system.
Monitor inventory trends and optimize stock levels to ensure maximum turns and efficiency.
Operational Support:
Collaborate with managers and project teams to assess material requirements and specifications.
Suggest alternative or substitute products from inventory to meet project needs.
Provide general administrative and logistical support to ensure smooth inventory and purchasing operations.
Other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
Key Skills and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Experience with accounting or inventory software (Simply Accounting experience an asset).
Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Solid understanding of the hardware, door, and building materials industry is a strong asset.
Negotiation skills and the ability to build effective supplier relationships.
Must be flexible, self-motivated, and able to adapt to changing priorities.
Education and Experience Required:
3-5 years of related experience in inventory control, purchasing, or supply chain operations.
Supply Chain Management or related education considered a strong asset.
Experience in hardware, doors, frames, and building construction products is preferred.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record may be required.
