Duties and Responsibilities:



The Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Outreach Worker provides support, education, crisis counselling, and outreach services to individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence. Duties shall be performed in a manner consistent with the overall mission and values of the agency. The IPV Outreach Supervisor provides daily oversight to the position, the Worker position reports to the Manager of Gender-Based Violence Prevention Services.

Duties include:



Deliver short-term crisis counselling, crisis management and outreach services for individuals affected by intimate partner violence. Collaborate with clients to assess needs and connect them with appropriate community resources. Develop and facilitate groups, workshops, and public education initiatives. Serve as a resource, liaison, and advocate to support clients in accessing housing, healthcare, legal navigation, police intervention, and transportation. Maintain strong partnerships with referral agencies and community organizations. Attend agency and community meetings, training and professional development sessions. Ensure compliance with reporting protocols for child protection and intimate partner violence cases. Perform administrative tasks including record keeping, casework documentation, session evaluations, correspondence and statistics. Cross-train and provide coverage for the Domestic Violence Court Caseworker role as needed. Participate in clinical supervision and case consultations with Manager and Supervisor. Assist in supervising peers, students and individual cases as required. Required to perform work outside of regular operating hours, including evenings and/or weekends. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:



Education:



Bachelor of Social Work degree or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work degree. One to three years of direct experience in a relevant area. Be eligible for registration with and maintain good standing in a relevant professional association.

Counselling & Therapeutic Expertise



Proficient in counselling theories and practice, including crisis and short-term interventions Skilled in theories of human development, behavioural change, communication, and conflict resolution Proficient in interviewing, assessment, and evaluation techniques

Violence & Trauma-Informed Practic

Deep understanding of intimate partner violence, abuse dynamics, coercive control, and risk factors Experience in working with those experiencing violence (survivors) and those using or at risk of using violence Applies trauma-informed and violence-informed approaches in all interactions

Groups & Community Engagement



Experienced in group facilitation and public education Knowledgeable about community resources and services related to intimate partner violence Culturally sensitivity and adept at working with Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and newcomer populations.

Integrated Systems Knowledge



Familiar with the justice system and domestic violence court processes Aware of the impact of addictions, mental health issues, and FASD on affected individuals

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate complex, high-stress situations with professionalism and composure Upholds ethical standards and fosters a collaborative, team-oriented work environment Self-directed and adaptable, with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team in a respectful and professional manner Experienced in group facilitation with a solid understanding of group dynamics Skilled in managing multiple priorities and maintaining caseloads effectively Possesses a valid driver's license and has consistent access to a reliable personal vehicle
Final candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search. This position is in-scope, CUPE Local 5316.

Compensation:



Pay range of $4,812.87 to $5,312.50 per month based on bachelor's degree and related experience.
