Intervenante mere-enfant / Educatrice Specialisee (Family case worker / Special care counsellor)

Le Bouclier d'Athena est a la recherche de conseilleres et d'autres professionnels (educatrice specialisee, travailleurs aupres des jeunes) pour se joindre a notre departement des enfants et de la parentalite afin de fournir des services adaptes a la culture et au developpement des meres et des jeunes exposes a la violence conjugale, familiale et/ou basee sur l'honneur. En plus d'attenuer les effets de l'exposition a la violence, le Bouclier d'Athena cherche a soutenir ses clients en les aidant a retablir un sentiment de securite, en favorisant un attachement sain entre les membres de la famille, en enseignant des competences parentales et en offrant aux jeunes des possibilites d'expression et de regulation emotionnelles. En outre, nous aidons une clientele diversifiee a franchir les barrieres linguistiques, a lutter contre l'isolement et a comprendre ses droits et ses responsabilites au Canada.

Nous comblons actuellement des postes dans notre ressource de deuxieme etape, situee a Laval, ainsi que dans notre maison d'hebergement a Montreal.

Responsabilites:

- Evaluer les besoins des clients et/ou des familles en ce qui concerne la parentalite.

- Mener des interventions individuelles aupres des jeunes et/ou des meres.

- Enseigner aux parents les competences necessaires pour soutenir leur enfant et renforcer l'attachement.

- Organiser et animer des activites de groupe avec les residents.

- Collaborer avec d'autres professionnels impliques dans les soins aux clients.

- Aider a maintenir un environnement communautaire propre et securitaire.

- Participation a la supervision clinique.

- Intervention en cas de crise si necessaire.

Criteres d'eligibilite :

- Diplome postsecondaire.

- Au moins un an d'experience professionnelle aupres d'enfants et/ou d'adolescents.

- Maitrise de l'anglais et du francais

- Formation en education specialisee, en education de la petite enfance et/ou en therapie par le jeu est un atout.

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION:

The Shield of Athena is looking for counseling practitioners and other helping professionals (special care counsellors, educators, youth workers) to join our Childrens' and Parenting Department in delivering culturally- and developmentally-appropriate services to mothers and youths exposed to conjugal-, family- and/or honor-based violence. In addition to mitigating the impacts of exposure to violence, Shield Family Services seeks to support clients by helping to re-establish a sense of safety, promoting healthy attachment between family members, teaching parenting skills and providing youths with opportunities for emotional expression and regulation. In addition, we support a diverse clientele in navigating linguistic barriers, combating isolation and gaining an understanding of their rights and responsibilities in Canada.

We are presently filling positions in both our second stage resource, located in Laval, as well as our emergency shelter in Montreal.

Responsibilities include:

- Assessing the needs of clients and/or families as they relate to parenting.

- Conducting individual interventions with youths and/or mothers.

- Teaching parents skills for supporting their child and strengthening attachment.

- Facilitating group interventions and activities with shelter residents.

- Collaborating with other professionals implicated in clients' care.

- Upholding a safe communal environment.

- Participation in clinical supervision on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

- Crisis intervention when necessary.

Eligibility Criteria:

- Post-secondary degree.

- At least 1 year of professional experience working with children and/or adolescents.

- Fluency in English and French

- Training in special care counselling, early child education and/or play therapy is an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 21 - 35 per week
