Opening Summer 2025, Squamish Canyon is set to become a captivating sanctuary of nature and wonder, where the wild beauty of the Sea-to-Sky Corridor comes to life along a breathtaking canyon walkway. As we prepare to welcome guests to this extraordinary landscape, we're seeking passionate, knowledgeable Interpretive Guides who can weave the stories of the land, its people, and its history into an experience that is as enriching as it is unforgettable.


About the Role



As an Interpretive Guide at Squamish Canyon, you'll be a bridge between our guests and the natural and cultural wonders of the canyon. Through engaging, informative tours, you'll ignite curiosity and foster a deeper connection to the land. Your passion for nature and BC's rich heritage will shine through every interaction, ensuring that each guest leaves with a lasting memory of their time.

Guest Engagement



Own the Experience:

You are the heartbeat of every guest's adventure, ensuring that each person leaves with stories of wonder and excitement, rain or shine.


Share Knowledge with Passion:

With a deep understanding of the region's history, geology, wildlife, and ecosystems, you bring these stories to life with engaging, memorable tours.


Adapt to Inspire:

Tailor your presentations to connect with every group, adjusting the narrative to captivate and inspire people of all ages and backgrounds.


Create Connections:

Your storytelling creates lasting memories, ensuring that every interaction is fun, meaningful, and enriches the guest's journey.


Safety & Supervision



Be the Guardian of Safety:

Your presence ensures guests feel safe, comfortable, and valued, no matter where they are in their adventure.


Proactively Protec

t:

You are vigilant in identifying potential hazards, maintaining clear signage, and always staying ahead of risks to ensure a smooth and safe experience.


Respond with Confidence:

When needed, you spring into action--assisting lost or injured guests and ensuring swift, efficient responses to any situation.


Lead with Care:

In moments of need, you provide essential first aid and meticulously document incidents to ensure the highest standard of care and safety.


Operational Support



Own the Guest Experience

: Ensure the smooth flow of operations by providing essential daily weather updates to both the guest services team and guests, keeping everyone informed and prepared for an exceptional visit.


Master the Details

: Take charge of maintaining a well-organized inventory of supplies and ensuring all interpretive materials are ready and available, supporting an immersive and seamless experience.


Become a Product Expert

: Immerse yourself in the offerings, programs, and safety protocols of Squamish Canyon, becoming the go-to resource for staff and guests alike.


Uphold Professionalism

: Consistently demonstrate a commitment to excellence by adhering to all operational policies and procedures, ensuring that every interaction reflects the high standards of Squamish Canyon.



Qualifications



A passion for environmental education

and outdoor recreation, with a genuine desire to connect guests to nature and inspire them through engaging experiences.


Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills

, comfortable speaking to diverse audiences and making information come to life with energy and enthusiasm.


A proactive self-starter

who thrives in a dynamic environment and is always ready to engage with guests and team members alike.


Excellent communication skills

--both written and verbal, that allow you to clearly articulate ideas and connect with others.


Physically fit

and able to walk, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 pounds, ensuring a high level of service no matter the conditions.


Quick thinker

; able to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively, especially in fast-paced situations.


A deep love for Squamish

and its local natural environment, or a strong willingness to learn about it to share with guests.


Previous experience

in tour guiding, summer camps, education, or public speaking is an asset.


Experience in customer-facing roles

, especially in outdoor or hospitality settings, is highly valued.


Fluent in English

, with additional language skills considered a bonus.


First Aid Training

is a plus, ensuring the safety and well-being of guests.


Willingness to complete a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check for added peace of mind.

Work Conditions



Dynamic Schedule

- Your role will keep you engaged with shifts that include evenings, weekends, and holidays. With nature as your backdrop, you'll experience all the beauty (and unpredictability) of working outdoors in various weather conditions, from crisp mountain mornings to golden sunset hours.


On Your Feet, In the Action

- This is a hands-on leadership role, so expect to be up and moving. Whether you're leading the team through a busy day or ensuring every detail is perfect, you'll be on your feet for extended periods. Occasionally, you may lift and carry up to 20 lbs.


Reaching New Heights

- Sometimes, the best view (or that one ingredient you need) is just out of reach. You may need to use step ladders or stools for certain tasks, ensuring every element of our food & beverage experience is top tier.
