Internship: Summer Programs Leader

Want to develop your leadership ability, build work skills, challenge yourself, and make an important impact in the community? We are looking for creative, organized, and enthusiastic 15 - 30 years olds (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible refugees).



Tailored to each team members unique interests and skills, our positions encompass a diverse range of potential areas, including activity leadership, food & farm programs, maintenance skills, youth leadership & engagement, administration, marketing, computer tech, community development. These positions are crafted to support and inspire you to explore, grow, learn and challenge yourself. Staff will benefit from comprehensive initial training and continuous support throughout their journey with us.


Key duties will include:




Lead or support a children's camp, fostering a positive and enriching experience Assist with regular events & activities, camps, youth activities, food programs Basic facilities management tasks (cleaning, grounds keeping, basic building maintenance) Work with local community partners to foster connections and collaboration Additional duties as necessary to ensure the smooth operation of programs and initiatives

Additional tasks, as interested, could include a combination of any of the following:

Food

- Assist with Market set-up and takedown

- Work with existing food programs

- Develop and lead food, farming & heritage related activities


Youth

- Plan and lead youth (10 - 24 years) activities and events

- Support, train and encourage volunteers and Youth Leadership participants


Older Adults

- Plan and lead activities

- Support volunteer engagement


Other

- General office administration

- Technical support and improvements

- Promotion, advertising, marketing & public relations

- Creation of short informational videos

- Organize and run special community events and activities

- Development of volunteer training and orientation

- Assist with building projects


Preferred skills and knowledge:



- Good communication (verbal and written), customer service, and interpersonal skills.

- Knowledge of local activities, resources and community groups

- Foodsafe

- Current First Aid Training with CPR & AED

- Satisfactory Current Criminal Records Check (required)


Anticipated Start Date and hours:



May and /or June

- Flexible hours, up to 20 hours.

July - August

- 35 - 40 hours a week



Pay range $17.50 - $20.00 per hour DOE.
