About the role

We are offering a 8-month (January to August 2024) Mine Planning internship based in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador at our .

This internship will allow you to have direct exposure to mine engineering work on an active mine site. You will support different activities relating to IOC\xe2\x80\x99s mine planning process.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll bring

  • Assisting mine planners with planning horizons, blast event, and infrastructure planning
  • Performing mine reconciliation (spatial, equipment, haulage network)
  • Contributing to continuous improvements initiatives related to unlocking haulage capacity
  • Providing mine design support
  • Assisting in the implementation of our downhill haulage procedure through updates to our traffic management plan, mine design standards, and risk assessment
  • Participating in HSE related programs, including safety talks and field observations
*To be eligible, you must return to school post internship.

Your contribution

Where will you be working

We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. With a team of over 2,400 employees, IOC is committed to providing value and continuity for our customers, employees, communities and shareholders through our unique mine to port approach, taking advantage of our full integration and wholly owned infrastructure to deliver our high-quality concentrate and pellets to our customers across the globe.

IOC\xe2\x80\x99s operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles. This internship is based in Labrador City.
