INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADVISOR (ARRIVALS SUPPORT)

Internationalization Office
(Two Part-Time Contractual Positions to March 31, 2024; 15 Hours per Week)

DUTIES

Working in the Internationalization Office (IO), the successful applicant will work within a team, striving to ensure a seamless arrival experience for new International Students and their dependents prior to and throughout their adjustment to university life and successful settlement to a new country. Specific duties include initiating and managing the arrival and welcome of new international students (communications, managing queries of students who are still abroad, posting new or relevant information on the arrivals website, supporting faculty, staff, and students with urgent questions around arrivals, communications around airport greeting); responding to new student inquiries; coordinating with all units who are bringing in new students, working closely with the Arrivals team related to new student arrivals; providing information and assistance to international students related to off-campus and temporary housing; assisting with health insurance and settlement information sessions; and performing other related duties as required. This position will be expected to have some shifts after hours and on weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (1-3 years) of post-secondary work experience in settlement for newcomers and/or families; completion of an undergraduate degree in Business, Education, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. This position requires an ability to communicate clearly in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills are required, as is ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams. Possession of strong intercultural experience is required. The ideal candidate must be able to collaborate and connect with students and support offices and have a background in working with post-secondary students, particularly those from other countries.

SALARY $28.36 - $42.53 per hour (Management and Professional)
