This position is responsible for providing vocational support to adolescents and young adults 12-25 years of age who are seeking training or placement in a community based vocational setting. The incumbent will also provide additional supports to Adolescents/young adults to work toward the achievement of their goals as identified in the person's recovery plan and work closely with the primary worker. The incumbent will have a key role in creating a vocational program which works with, and enhances, current community resources to provide work opportunities for our clients.




Reporting to the Integrated Manager of Integrated Client Services

the incumbent will be responsible for the following functions:




promotes a stigma free youth culture for mental illness; provides individualized community-based support from a recovery perspective to clients; facilitating vocational skills (includes school, volunteering, as well as paid employment) development on an individual or small group basis. demonstrating and facilitating safe work practices through role modelling and completion of WHMIS training safe food handlers providing employment opportunities through linking with other community agencies who have established connections with suitable employers. identifying barriers to employment and assisting clients to overcome barriers, such as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing resumes and preparing for job interviews. supporting reintegration into school, work and social activities.






Qualifications:




Post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline such as a Social Service Worker, or Vocational Rehabilitation with a Professional Registration; 1-2 years' experience in a health related organization and experience working with Adolescents/young adults with mental health issues; A valid Ontario Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle.




Hours of Work:

17.5 hours/week, which may include working one evening per week.
