Job Description

Job Summary



Reporting to the Director of R&D and Technical Services, the Laboratory Testing Engineer is responsible for executing various performance tests on existing and developing products. They coordinate projects from the identification of opportunities to the issuance of test reports. The role involves balancing immediate technical support needs with long-term development projects. The engineer also oversees fire and structural certification projects across the company. Each opportunity must be analyzed, with appropriate solutions identified and validated. Additionally, the engineer supports leadership in prioritizing assignments based on strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities



Participate in test bench setups and prototype assemblies Contribute to early-stage innovation initiatives Track cost and resource parameters associated with product development projects Stay up to date with technical knowledge relevant to the role Maintain accurate and current project schedules Manage the project portfolio within their assigned scope Organize and coordinate project kickoff meetings and phase-gate reviews Participate in product design review meetings Coordinate the company's product certification efforts Design and manage various testing protocols to enhance technical understanding of company products Analyze test results and advise technical team members on their interpretation and application Ensure the performance of developed products aligns with company values Prepare thermal simulations and conduct finite element analysis (FEA)

Education and Experience Required



Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Building Engineering (or equivalent) Recent graduate or early career professional (experience in a similar role is an asset) Member in good standing of the OIQ (Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec) 5 years of relevant technical experience (preferred but not mandatory for new graduates)

Key Competencies Required



Strong computer skills Ability to read technical drawings and specifications Proficiency in AutoCAD Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Inventor is an asset) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with Jira (asset) Knowledge of SharePoint (asset) Experience with Epicor ERP (asset)

High level of external communication required Travel for 2-3 days at a time, approximately 3-6 times per year * Technical expertise level: 5
