Job Description

NWI Precision specializes in high-precision machining of helicopter masts, turbine shafts, engine thrust links, and nuclear pressure vessel components used in the aerospace and nuclear industries worldwide. NWI Precision's 120,000 sq. ft. facility is located at 9 Fenmar Drive in Toronto. Our dedicated team prides themselves on delivering the highest quality products, to specifications and on time. NWI Precision is currently seeking an Internal Auditor to join our team.

The Internal Auditor is responsible for ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal processes within aerospace and nuclear organizations. This role involves conducting internal audits, monitoring quality management systems (QMS), and ensuring the safety and reliability of products and systems. Participating in all external audits including customer and certifications audits. Additionally, the role includes writing, reviewing, and maintaining procedures to standardize processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and support operational excellence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Internal Auditing:



Plan, schedule, and conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with standards including AS9100 (aerospace), NADCAP, and Nuclear in addition to compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal processes within aerospace and nuclear organizations. Create audit schedule for all internal audits Assess processes, systems, and documentation for adherence to all applicable regulations. Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, non-conformances, and recommendations.

Quality Assurance:



Develop and maintain quality management systems to ensure product and process reliability. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for external audits and coach and support different departments on RCCA for internal audit findings. Verify nuclear supplier quality and perform nuclear supplier audits.

Procedure Development and Writing:



Write and revise procedures

: Create clear, detailed, and standardized written procedures for quality control, manufacturing, safety, and compliance processes, ensuring alignment with industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and customer specs.

Document process workflows

: Translate complex technical processes into concise, user-friendly procedures for employees, including work instructions, inspection protocols, and audit guidelines and coach different departments on wring the work instructions and procedures.

Ensure regulatory compliance

: Incorporate regulatory requirements into written procedures to ensure adherence.

Collaborate with stakeholders

: Work with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to gather input and ensure procedures accurately reflect operational practices.

Maintain procedure libraries

: Update and archive procedures to reflect changes in regulations, processes, or technology, ensuring version control and traceability.

Standardize formats

: Use templates and style guides to ensure consistency, clarity, and accessibility in all written procedures.

Compliance and Risk Management:



Ensure procedures and processes comply with all applicable regulations. Identify and mitigate risks through well-documented procedures and controls. Stay updated on regulatory changes to revise procedures accordingly.

Process Improvement:



Use suitable methodologies to streamline processes and reflect improvements in written

Documentation and Training:



Maintain accurate records of procedures, audit findings, and quality documentation. Train employees on newly developed or updated procedures, ensuring proper implementation. Ensure traceability of components and materials through documented processes.

Customer and Regulatory Interaction:



Support external audits by providing clear, well-documented procedures to customers or regulatory bodies. Address quality issues and update procedures to prevent recurrence. Prepare documentation for regulatory inspections or certifications.

Others:



Ensure employees, officers, and directors are properly assessed and authorized before they can examine, possess or transfer controlled goods Work in compliance with the Defense Production Act and the Controlled Goods Regulations Determining the risk of transferring controlled goods to anyone who is not registered or is not exempt from registration and authorizing the extent to which they may examine, possess or transfer controlled goods.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Education:



Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, quality engineering, or a related field. A master's degree or certifications (e.g., CQE, CQA) is a plus.

Experience:



3-7 years as Product Quality Engineer for Aerospace 2+ years internal auditing, or related roles in aerospace or nuclear industries. Proven experience in

writing technical procedures

ordocumentation for regulated industries. Deep Knowledge with aerospace (AS9100, AS9110) and/or nuclear standards and regulations.

Certifications

(preferred):

Internal Auditor certification for ISO 9001, AS9100, or Nuclear.

Skills and Competencies:



Technical Writing

: Strong ability to write clear, concise, and accurate procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation tailored to diverse audiences.

Technical Knowledge

: Deep understanding of aerospace and nuclear manufacturing processes, materials, and safety requirements.

Audit Expertise

: Proficiency in planning, executing, and reporting on internal audits.

Analytical Skills

: Competence in root cause analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and risk assessments.

Communication

: Excellent written and verbal skills for procedure development, training, and collaboration.

Attention to Detail

: Precision in writing procedures and identifying non-conformances.

Tools and Software

: Proficiency with MS Office, and documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker).
