Job Description

Reporting to the CFO, the Internal Auditor will play a key role in ensuring compliance wit financial reporting standards and internal policies while minimizing the risk of fraud and maximizing the accuracy of financial statements and reports.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct comprehensive internal audits to assess compliance with CHN's internal controls. Review and analyze financial statements, records, and documentation to ensure accuracy and reliability. Prepare adjusting entries for the CFO to consider for entry into the accounting system. Prepare the trial balance reconciliation for delivery to the external auditors and serve as the primary point of contact with external auditors. Prepare detailed audit reports with actionable recommendations for enhancing controls and processes. Work with the CFO and Accounting Manager to address audit findings and support the implementation of corrective actions. Contribute to the development of internal auditing standards and methodologies. Perform other related duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

Professional designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, or Certified Aboriginal Finance Manager (AFOA CAFM) is preferred. Three years of work experience as an Internal Auditor is preferred. Minimum (40) forty words per minute typing and word processing speed with accuracy. Computer literate with complete working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other related finance such as Adagio and Paydirt Payroll. Familiar with office machines, including computers, photocopiers, fax machines, scanners, tablets, telephone systems and postage machine.

WORK CONDITIONS

Must be medically and physically fit to assume the responsibilities of the position. Ability to demonstrate tact, courteous attention and understanding to the public. Must work well under pressure and be available to work regular scheduled hours. Must demonstrate problem solving skills and considerable judgment in performance of duties. Must have knowledge and understanding of Haida cultural values, past experience of working with First Nation's will be considered an asset.


$39.55 - $42.77 per hour based on experience, Full-time 35 hrs. per week
