Location:

Steele Auto Group Head Office, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Hybrid work arrangement available.

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional overtime required.

Wage:

Commensurate with knowledge, skills, and abilities

Start Date:

Flexible based on the candidate, no later than January 2026.


Job Summary:


We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical

Internal Auditor

to join our Finance Team within the Internal Audit function. This

newly created role

offers an exciting opportunity to help shape and establish Steele Auto Group's internal audit framework. As our first dedicated Internal Auditor, you'll play a key role in building the foundation for audit excellence, enhancing accountability, strengthening internal controls, and supporting the Group's continued growth across all dealerships. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who is

willing to take on the challenge of developing something new

and who is

comfortable with frequent independent, in-person interaction with key stakeholders

across the organization. The successful candidate will perform internal audit procedures, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality audit engagements and support the transformation of strategic initiatives in audit delivery.

Key Responsibilities:




Execute control testing to ensure effective practices are followed and high-quality documentation is produced by assessing the design and operating effectiveness of key controls. Plan and perform operational, financial, and compliance audits at various dealerships, including travel throughout Atlantic Canada and to Texas. Collaborate with business partners to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and implement lasting improvements to processes and performance. Gather, analyze, and assess relevant information about internal control systems through research, data analysis, and employee discussions. Prepare and present clear, concise audit reports that communicate findings, recommendations, and action plans to management. Monitor and follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations to ensure timely and effective resolution. Support the Finance Team in developing risk-based audit plans, methodologies, and standardized documentation templates. Frequent visits to all our operating locations. Assist with special investigations and other audit-related initiatives as assigned. Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure continuous improvement in audit processes and controls.

What You Need to Succeed:




A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not required Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designations or willingness to complete them are considered an asset 2+ years related working experience, with minimum 1 year of Audit experience Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically excel) Experience with dealership accounting systems considered an asset (PBS or CDK) Required to travel 25% to 30% locally and within Atlantic Canada, with 3-4 travel weeks to the United States (Texas) each year.
