System Job Title: Internal Assurance Partner 6

Leader Name: Director, ELFC

Work Arrangement: Hybrid: You\'ll work both remote and onsite, where time onsite is based on your job accountabilities and performance objectives.

The Internal Assurance Partner is responsible for conducting ongoing audits which assess whether key controls are in place to mitigate risk and safeguard the assets of ATB Financial. Areas of emphasis include financial, operational and process related risk management responsibilities within diverse portfolios, including:

  • Chief Financial Officer
  • Chief Risk Officer
  • People and Culture & Brand
Specific Accountabilities:
  • Accountable for conducting operational, financial and compliance audits and identify opportunities to enhance ATB\'s performance and reduce risk:
  • Prepare audit plans and documentation, including audit engagement letters, audit scope and approach, audit findings, impact analysis and recommendations, final audit reports and board reports
  • Support the development and implementation of audit strategies and effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes;
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual Internal Assurance audit plan; and
  • Contribute to the coordination of audit efforts with other groups within Internal Assurance; with risk management groups within ATB, and with external parties such as ATB\'s external auditors.
  • Accountable for the timely and diligent practice of assessing ATB\'s controls;
  • work in conjunction with external parties such as ATB\'s 2nd line of defence, as well as external auditors to coordinate audit efforts as required.
  • Conduct audits as required by regulatory bodies;
  • Provide business expertise and consulting to other auditors within Internal Assurance;
  • Participate in required projects, providing advice and consultation to business areas on effective controls as it relates to business processes and controls;
  • Advise business areas of best practice as it relates to the scope of the engagement;
  • Accountable for concise, relevant and timely written communication of engagement issues and recommendations to relevant stakeholders, including Internal Assurance leadership;
  • Ensure audit work progress is reported in accordance with engagement timelines;
  • Ensure engagement reports are prepared and released on a timely basis (according to schedule) to appropriate stakeholders, in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Ensure audit follow-up on management commitment and plans to address audit concerns and recommendations are documented and communicated formally through audit reports, memorandums and audit exit conferences.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a post secondary degree, or a recognized professional designation in accounting or auditing, or a graduate business, finance or management degree;
  • CIA, CFE, CISA accreditations desirable
  • Evidenced and ongoing professional development in the areas of governance, internal control, internal auditing and risk management.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with internal audit, external audit or risk management;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all management levels, including executive management;
  • Strong understanding of audit principles, practices and control standards and the ability to apply such standards;
  • Knowledge of audit methodology, leading practices and approaches;
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in a way that makes them easily understood
  • Strong background within financial services audit or professional services firms (advisory services)
  • Experience in the application of computer programs, including
  • Google Suite products;
  • Jira and Confluence project management software (desired); and
  • Experience in computer assisted audit and analysis techniques preferred.
