Overview:

Reporting to the Assistant Managing Editor, the Managing Editorial Intern will be a key member of the Managing Editorial team. Our team, which is part of the Operations department, is responsible for coordinating editorial activity, monitoring workflow, database support, and ensuring on-time delivery of editorial materials to production for Harlequin imprints in Canada, the UK and the US. In this role, you will have the opportunity to intersect with all stages of the publishing process and establish relationships in each department. Your responsibilities will include assisting Managing Editorial with editorial schedules and ensuring on-time delivery of cover copy, manuscripts and other materials; assisting with assigning and coordinating freelance copywriting, editing, and manuscript read projects; and attending editorial status and other meeting .

Responsibilities

  • Attend biweekly status meetings
  • Work in Excel to update and maintain editorial deadlines and tracking logs
  • Assist with coordinating freelance activity by issuing and logging assignments
  • Coordinate reprint and e-book corrections
  • Support the Managing Editorial team on special projects as needed
Qualifications

Specific training or job experience required includes:
  • Completion of university or college education, or possess equivalent/relevant work experience in the areas of publishing
  • Proficiency in Excel or database programs an asset
  • Interest in publishing
  • Applicants must be eligible to work and be paid in Canada
