The intern will gain hands-on experience assisting the legal team by reviewing and drafting a variety of contracts, lease related paperwork and employment related documents, under supervision of a lawyer.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in store licensing processes which includes determining the license requirements per store, coordinating the application process, processing renewals, and notifying stores if inspections are required (health, fire, etc.). - Maintains all records that pertain to the licensing process (business, lottery, propane, tobacco, signs, elevator licenses).
- Exposure to a number of different practice areas including real estate, corporate/commercial, marketing/advertising, pharmaceutical and employment/human rights
- Review and draft a variety of contracts with an emphasis on real estate contracts such as offers to lease, leases, and lease amending agreements
- Draft legal correspondence and other documents
- Prepare legal memorandums
- Assist with transactional work as necessary
- Conduct legal research
- Attend meetings as directed and take minutesQUALIFICATIONS:
- Student working towards the completion of law degree.
- Experienced in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Independent thinker interested in taking initiative.
